I believe the carrying value on the balance sheet would be the face value, less the discount ($50) less the debt underwriting/legal fees. When debt is issued in exchange for property (including money), goods, or a service in an arm’s–length transaction, it is presumed that the interest rate will be equal to the market rate and thus “fair and adequate compensation” (Paragraph 835–30–05–2).
